Today is April Fool’s Day, where we like to say things that aren’t true, and try to make other people look like fools. But, the real question is, “Am I a fool?” I thought it would be a good thing to hear from God today on the subject. There are many different passages in the Word of God that speak about fools, folly and foolishness, as well as many on the subject of wisdom. Here are just a few:
Psalm 14:1, “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.””
Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 3:35, “The wise shall inherit glory, But shame shall be the legacy of fools.”
Proverbs 1:22, ““How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.”
Proverbs 13:20, “He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.”
Proverbs 14:9, “Fools mock at sin, But among the upright there is favor.”
Proverbs 15:2, “The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.”
Ecclesiastes 5:1-3, “Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil. Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words.”
